A mask name alone does not identify its magnetic components. Resmed’s guidance covers the wearer and anyone in close physical contact during use, including a bed partner. Its contraindications include active implants that interact with magnets and metallic implants or objects containing ferromagnetic material. Ask the implant manufacturer and your clinician when the exact device is uncertain.
Resmed also specifies at least 150 mm (6 inches) between mask magnets and implants or medical devices that magnetic interference could affect. This separation warning does not cancel a contraindication. If a contraindication applies, arrange an appropriate mask without magnets with your provider; if one is unavailable, ask your clinician about the next steps for therapy.
The FDA describes the affected Resmed mask recall as a labeling correction rather than product removal. Check the current notice, exact mask version and local instructions. CPAP.buzz lists explicitly named non-magnetic F20 and F30i versions separately and does not infer that every similarly named mask has the same clips.
